Chris Day’s Streamer Patterns<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Micro Leech<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Hook: Mustad S82-3906B Size 12-14 or Equivalent 3 Extra Heavy\/2 Extra Long Nymph Hook (For the\u00a0<\/span>Demo I will be using a size 10)<\/span><\/p>\n

Thread: Olive 6\/0 or 140 Denier (Choose thread <\/span>colour to match the body)<\/span><\/p>\n

Body: Olive UNI Mohair (Colours in order of effectiveness Olive, Wine, Maroon, <\/span>Black and White).<\/span><\/p>\n

Bead: Gold, Copper, or Black Nickel Brass Bead (7\/64 for Size 12 or 3\/32 for size 14)<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Dubbed Leech<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Hook: Mustad S82-3906B Size 6-8 or Equivalent 3 Extra Heavy\/2 Extra Long Nymph Hook (For the Demo\u00a0<\/span>I will be using a size 8)<\/span><\/p>\n

Thread: White 6\/0 or 140 Denier (Choose thread <\/span>colour to match the body)<\/span><\/p>\n

Body: Soft Long Fibered Dubbing. Hemingway UV Dubbing in White. (Lt. Olive UV Ice Dub and UV Pearl\u00a0<\/span>Ice Dub Will work.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Bead: Gold or Copper Brass Bead (5\/32 or 1\/8 Most of the time I will use a 5\/32 Bead for both hook\u00a0<\/span>sizes. But, sometimes I will use a 1\/8 bead on the size 8 hook.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Wire\/Loop: Copper Ultra Wire size BR (Brassie). The wire is used to form a dubbing Loop. I have tried\u00a0<\/span>other types of wire, but only BR size Ultra <\/span>Wire work with the technique I use.<\/span><\/p>\n

Required Tools: A dubbing Spinner\/Twister and some sort of dubbing brush are needed. A toothbrush,\u00a0<\/span>a piece of Velcro glued to a popsicle stick or a small gun cleaning brush will work fine to brush out the\u00a0<\/span>dubbing.<\/span><\/p>\n

Las Vegas Leech<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Hook: Mustad R74-9672 Size 6-8 or Equivalent 2 Extra Heavy\/4 Extra Long Streamer (For the Demo I will\u00a0<\/span>be using a size 6)<\/span><\/p>\n

Thread: Black 6\/0 or 140 Denier (Choose thread <\/span>colour to match the body)<\/span><\/p>\n

Tail: Fibres from Black Marabou Plumes. I tend to match the Marabou <\/span>colour to the <\/span>colour of Cactus<\/span><\/p>\n

Chenille. If you can\u2019t find Marabou plumes, Blood Quill or Wooly Bugger Marabou will work fine.<\/span><\/p>\n

Flash: 2 Strands of Pearl or UV Pearl Krystal Flash on each side of the tail.<\/span><\/p>\n

Body: Large Black Cactus Chenille (Colours in order of effectiveness Black, Olive, White, Purple and\u00a0<\/span>Rootbeer).<\/span><\/p>\n

Bead: 5\/32 Gold Brass Bead (You can use any <\/span>colour of bead you have. Fluorescent <\/span>colours will work.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hot orange <\/span>bead with olive tail and body and Pink bead with white tail and body have worked well for\u00a0<\/span>me.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Golden Leech Variant<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Hook: Mustad R74-9672 Size 2-8 or Equivalent 2 Extra Heavy\/4 Extra Long Streamer (For the Demo I will\u00a0<\/span>be using a size 6)<\/span><\/p>\n

Thread: Brown 6\/0 or 140 Denier (Choose thread <\/span>colour to match overall <\/span>colour scheme of the fly)<\/span><\/p>\n

Tail: Gold Flashabou. (Pearl Flashabou on the pearl version and Silver on the silver version)<\/span><\/p>\n

Rib: Medium Gold Wire (Silver Wire on the Pearl and Silver Versions)<\/span><\/p>\n

Body: Gold Metallic Chenille.(Pearl Cactus on the Pearl Version and Silver Metallic chenille on the Silver\u00a0<\/span>Version)<\/span><\/p>\n

Wing: Barred Tan or Plain Ginger Rabbit Strip. Tied down with the rib Matuka style. (Barred white on the\u00a0<\/span>pearl version and natural or barred natural on the silver version).<\/span><\/p>\n

Gills: UV Red Ice Dub tied as a throat. Red Craft or Red Antron can be substituted.<\/span><\/p>\n

Collar: Brown Hen Hackle. Schlappen can be used on the largest sizes. (Grizzly Hen on the Pearl and\u00a0<\/span>Silver Versions).<\/span><\/p>\n
