Middle Grand Chapter of T.U.C. Spring Volunteer Activities.

Join us this spring to help accomplish our biggest tree planting year yet!

The Middle Grand Chapter of Trout Unlimited will be planting trees along Horner Creek (upper Whiteman’s Creek) on Saturday April 29th, and the evenings of May 3rd, 4th and 10th.

Horner Creek is one of the tributaries to Whitemans Creek, a beautiful cold-water system that runs into the Grand River. This spring, we are going to plant almost 1,500 potted and bare root trees to help increase the natural cover along these headwaters which will improve the riparian areas. Over the years, our efforts will shade the creek, keep the water temperatures cool, stabilize the banks and provide wildlife habitat.

Any IWFFC members wishing to attend can notify Steve Beckett so that final volunteer numbers can be confirmed ahead of the events.

Location: ALL FOUR PLANTINGS will take place at 866138 Township Road 10, Bright. (Access lane on the North side of the road, between Bright Compress Station and Horner Creek).

The event on Saturday will begin at 9:30am and the weeknight events at 5:30pm, signup will begin half hour before the event. Overall the events should run for about two hours, but any amount of help is much appreciated. All participants are covered by TUC liability insurance as long as they sign a mandatory waiver/photo release form. TUC members and non-member guests are welcome to attend, but you must sign the form to participate in volunteer activities.

For those coming with children who are high school students, we will be glad to sign Ontario Secondary School student volunteer forms if you bring them with you on the day.

If you have any questions, you can contact Archie (ecoman23@icloud.com) or Barry (buchwaldb@yahoo.ca).
